The Arabian Peninsula

People in the Arabian Peninsula are seeing living examples of the love of Christ in their few Christian neighbors and friends.

The Arabian Peninsula (AP) is composed of the nations between the Red Sea and Persian Gulf: Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Oman and Yemen. In total, there are more than 60 million people living in the AP. More than 30 million of these people are Arabs, although expatriates make up more than 88% of the population in some countries, including Qatar and the UAE.

Sharing Love in the Arabian Peninsula

Despite difficult circumstances, the church is growing in the AP. Nearly 65% of Arabs in the AP are under the age of 30, and many of them are open to hearing the good news of salvation and reconciliation with our Heavenly Father, especially through online Christian resources. In person, Jesus followers are also living out the love of Christ to their Muslim neighbours in the AP through friendships and workplace relationships.

Jesus Followers in the Arabian Peninsula

It’s reported that there are only about 500 to 1,000 Jesus followers among the people groups of the AP. Scattered across cities and villages, the few Christian believers fear meeting together because of persecution. Social control and family pressure to stay within the Islamic culture and religion, as well as teachings in schools and from mosques, hinder the spread of Jesus’ message of love and hope. Atheism and New Age are also growing belief systems in the area, as more people become disenchanted with Islam.

What we can do

Pray that God would show me, and other believers around the world, how He wants to use us to be part of what He’s doing in the AP .

"And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayer and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people."
