Required Skills

OM has a vision to establish vibrant communities of Jesus followers in Spain. Spain is a beautiful country with great spiritual needs.  It is estimated that 10 million people in Spain live in communities without any evangelical presence.  Many people don't even have the opportunity to meet someone who follows Jesus.

Spain is a traditionally Catholic country. Around 68 per cent of the population identify as Catholic, yet only 14 per cent regularly attend Mass.  Evangelical Christians, of which two-thirds are immigrants, count for around one per cent of the population.  This makes Spain one of the least reached countries in Europe.

This is a collaboration between OM in Spain and the Spanish Baptist Union, who want to plant churches in areas where there is currently no evangelical church.  Possible locations include Cáceres‎, San Sebastián, Zamora and Burgos.  Your location would be determined by OM in Spain, depending on your skills and experience and the needs of the different locations.  You would need to be able to use your own initiative whilst working under the leadership of a local Pastor.  This is pioneering work, starting new communities of Jesus followers from scratch.

In order to do that you can use your skills and passions to get to know local people. You can teach English or other languages, play sport, share art or music, organise activities for children or youth.  As a Jesus follower, you can share love through relationships, simply by sharing your personal testimony and how God has changed your life. You may be the first Jesus follower a local person meets.

We welcome singles, couples and families with the following attributes:

  • A passion to see vibrant communities of Jesus followers established among the least-reached in Spain.
  • Knowledge of the Spanish language or a strong commitment to learn the language.
  • Patience and endurance, as results might not always be immediately visible.
  • Proactive attitude, willingness to start new activities and try out different ways of reaching and discipling people.
  • Flexibility, as the work and types of tasks involved are always subject to change.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and under the leadership of a local Pastor.
  • A strong desire to share Jesus' love and the gospel with people, especially through a local church.

* The jobs listed on this website do not have a set salary. This means that the person who applies will need to raise their own support, which is money that they will use to live on. The amount of support money they need to raise will depend on things like where they are from, if they have a family, and what country they will be working in. There might be some jobs that pay salary, but these are rare and would need to be negotiated with the sending offices and the teams you'd like to serve with. If you have any questions about this, please contact your local home office. Always keep in mind that our ministry depends on generous giving from our partners around the globe and God's ongoing provision. Joining OM is always seen as a step of faith and trust in a God who will provide for our needs through his chosen people.
