Journey Overview

We prefer receiving participants during South African school terms.

School period for 2023:
Term 1: 11 Jan - 24 Mar
Term 2: 12 Apr - 23 Jun
Term 3: 18 Jul - 22 Sep
Term 4: 9 Oct - 30 Nov

The cost does not include admin fees, travel, visa or medical coverage expenses. Price excludes non-refundable deposit of £50, admin fees, travel, insurance & any possible vaccinations and is subject to change according to the exchange rate.

Applicants must be 18 or over.

If you live in the UK, please let us know the dates you hope to go and how long for.

As part of our Safeguarding policy, you may require a valid enhanced DBS certificate, which may cost an additional £15.

What To Expect

In everything we do at Tshega our aim is to reach the local community as a result we are involved with many different community projects. We run a fully function school during the South African school terms as well as feeding schemes, working a long side a local church, sports ministry etc.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will there be accommodation provided?

Dormitory style housing. The accomodation is in a farm owned by the Tshega's director. It is a few km away from the school, the partcipants will be driven to the base everyday by Tshega transport.

Will there be food provided?

Monday to Friday: Dinner provided by Tshega, other meals are self-catering. The participant will have an opportunity to buy groceries almost everyday.

Do I need to make my own travel arrangements?

Please make your own travel arrangements. Information is provided on different types of transport you can use.

The cost does not include airport pick up and drop off.

What should my health condition be like?
