Choosing to pray and be still

A believer didn’t let persecution stop her from sharing about Jesus, but instead prayed for her persecutors.

Elizabeth* often faced challenges while sharing her faith among the Himalayan people. “If you keep sharing and giving out books, I will throw all your books away!” one person threatened. Some men even threatened to sexually assault her if she continued. Yet Elizabeth wasn’t scared; instead, she chose to pray for her persecutors. Elizabeth knew the God whom she served, and this gave her peace and determination to continue.

One day, Elizabeth was surprised to meet Arjun* in church, who had earlier been rude and intimidating toward her. Arjun had felt compelled to visit the church and later put his faith in Jesus as his Saviour. Arjun asked Elizabeth for forgiveness for the trouble he had caused her earlier, and now he worships Jesus regularly.

Elizabeth is grateful for the way the Lord heard her prayer and gave her joy to continue despite the challenges. Now, she can see the fruit.
